Autumn Book Tag

I saw this tag in The Worn Bookmark and decided that I haven’t done one in a long time! 😀 And plus this one seems super-short and I’m super-lazy, so you can do the math 😛

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

We don’t really have the typical “autumn” here in India. WE have really unpredictable during this time period, and I love that as well as hate it. ^_^

What book reminds you of your school days?

I read this book AGES ago as a kid, and it isn’t even really good, but it very school-ish.

Errr, lots of memories. I’m sure my classmates will understand. 😉

What book cover reminds you of Autumn?

Obviously, this one will be a very common choice.

What is your favorite horror or Halloween film?

Ummm, I hate horror movies. I haven’t watched ONE. Sorry. The scariest ENGLISH horror movie I watched was The Monster House (they gave it on Cartoon Network). Its a very cute movie. 😛

Can I mention Hindi movies? Then its:

Uggh, creepy..

What Fall book release are you most looking forward to?

😀 😀 CoHo!!!!

What Autumn movie release are you most anticipating?

None. I’m not a movie person. And waiiiiit a second, I thought this was a BOOK tag!

What are three books you plan to read this Autumn?

Any three?

I’m in a historical romance genre reading spree. 😛

So that’s it !!!! If you want to do the tag, just comment below! 😀

Don’t Make Me Beautiful- Elle Casey- Book Blitz

Don’t Make Me Beautiful by Elle Casey
Publication date: September 9th 2013
Genres: New Adult, Romance, Suspense

**This story was inspired by true events. If you liked the movie “Sleeping With the Enemy”, then you might like this story too. CONTENT WARNING: Violence, foul language, and adult situations. Not meant for younger readers.**

A ROMANTIC SUSPENSE NOVEL. No one knew a woman lived there or that she even existed. A monster, living in darkness…

At twenty-two, Nicole doesn’t even look human anymore. The beast made sure of that. So she hides. A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude. This is all she deserves, she is quite sure of that.
And then one day out of the blue, the autographed baseball caught by Brian Jensen at the latest Marlins game enters her prison and manages to turn her world completely upside down.

Temptation comes in the form of pity at first, and then perhaps something more. Does she dare to believe the things she’s told, that this is not the life she was meant to live? That being a monster is not her forever-fate? And will she be willing to risk everything, to reach out and accept the helping hands around her and share her deepest, darkest secrets? She knows only too well that hands can hurt. Finding out whether they can also heal is a risky proposition, especially when the beast is still out there. Looking for her.

Elle Casey is a prolific, NEW YORK TIMES and USA TODAY bestselling American writer who lives in Southern France with her husband, three kids, and several furry friends. She writes in several genres and publishes an average of one full-length novel per month.

“Maybe I’ll get lucky tonight and he’ll cheat on me and sleep somewhere else. Nicole says that to herself as a joke. He definitely cheats on her, but he never sleeps anywhere else, probably because he worries she’ll decide to go out again. He should know better. She’s too well-conditioned to dare doing that again. Besides, the locked doors make it kind of difficult.

She glances over at the table by the door that’s lit with the streetlights’ glow coming through the transom window. The framed picture is there, mocking her. She’s tried to get rid of it several times, but the monster won’t let her. It has to stay, he says, to remind her of what she’s done.

The sound of a car coming down the street makes her entire body go tense. She’s gotten very good at detecting the type of vehicle that approaches by the sound of its engine. This one roars loudly, so she knows it’s a truck. She gets up from the couch, her body stiff, and shuffles towards the front window. Twitching the curtains to the side the slightest bit is enough to tell her. Yes. It’s him.

She twists around and looks at the clock behind her. It’s late. Where has the time gone? I must have been dozing off again. Dammit! He’s been to the local bar after work.

Rushing to the kitchen, she gets a beer out of the refrigerator and scrambles to open the drawer where the opener is kept. Her hands tremble as she fits it into position over the bottle and uses it to lever the cap off. As the top flips over, she loses her hold on it, and it falls to the floor in the dark kitchen, rattling around on the tile.

“She puts the bottle down on the counter and nearly cries when some of the beer foams up and comes out the top to spill over the edge.

“Find the cap! Find the cap! Where are you, dammit?” She moans, patting the floor desperately with her hand, nearly weeping with relief when her fingers finally make contact with its jagged metal edges.

The engine goes silent. A moment later the truck’s door shuts with a muffled clunk.

“Shit, shit, shit!” she whispers, grabbing the dishtowel off the hook and hurriedly wiping the bottle and counter down. They cannot be wet, no matter what.

The sound of heavy footsteps on the front porch comes through the door…..

……The monster is home.”

Totally Didn’t Book Tag

Thank you Find Me At The Library for tagging me here!! 🙂

1. Totally didn’t need to have a sequel/sequels

This book could have been ended in one. I didn’t even like the next books so much. But the concept BLEW my mind.

2. Totally didn’t need to have more than one point of view!

I’m sorry, I ADORE dual povs.. They change the entire dynamics!

3. Totally didn’t need to change cover art through the middle of a series!

I’ve never come across a massacre like that! Sorry for another non-answer!

4. Totally didn’t need a love triangle!

As if Edward and Bella’s drama weren’t enough, she shows us Jacob and then snatches him away. 😦

I can’t resist saying something negative from this book.. 😛

Why was Gale even there????

5. Totally didn’t need this book to be included in this series!

Err.. I’m aware that the series would be incomplete without this book, but c’mon!!!! I DID NOT like it.

6. Totally didn’t need a cliffhanger!

The next book wasn’t worth finishing. I don’t know, I might try again someday. But my expectations were soaring very very high.

7. Totally didn’t need to have just one point of view!

I wanted Christian’s POV. What could be so wrong with his head????? I’m glad to have Grey now, but I wish it was all in the same book. 😦

8. Totally didn’t need that much hype!

SURPRISE!!!!!! Dude, what’s so special about a sparkly vampire?????

9. Totally didn’t need a relative book reference! (e.g. Hunger Games fan would love Divergent.)

I agree with Find Me At The Library. Nothing wrong with references.

10. Totally didn’t deserve my time!

I COULD have named any bad book, but this book.. its just special. *sarcastic smile*

Exploring My Bookshelves (#6): Favourite Author

Exploring My Bookshelves is a bookish meme hosted by Addlepates and Book Nerds

Here’s how it works:

  1. Post a picture of your bookshelf (preferably literal, but e-shelves work too).
  2. She’ll give you something about your shelf to write about. It might be your favourite cover, your favourite author, your book you most recently bought etc
  3. Then give the blurb and the cover of the book (and what you thought of it if you’ve read it)
  4. And finally, go back to her post and send her a link!

new 075new 076new 077

This was probably the most difficult !!! If you consider books that I own the paperback version of, then I have to name two people-  Jodi Picoult and Cecelia Ahern.

I own two books by Jodi Picoult- Between The Lines (which she co-wrote with her daughter), and The Storyteller. Both are amazing books from very different genres where Jodi leaves you spellbound with her wit and her smooth writing style. But her most famous book is My Sister’s Keeper, which has also been made into a movie. And my favourite book written by Picoult has to be The Pact- read it, but don’t blame me for the recommendation. 🙂

Cecelia Ahern- author of P.S. I Love You, which is now an EXTREMELY popular movie. But I guess that particular book was sort of different to her other stories, which won’t fall into the chick-lit genre strictly. So I guess you need to read a few of her other books before you get to judge. I own 3 of her books- The Year I met You, The Time Of my Life, and Thanks For The Memories. But my favorite book written by her is If You Could See Me Now… ❤

And although I don’t own paperbacks of the next two authors, I have to mention them- Colleen Hoover and Autumn Doughton. CoHo is simply A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. As for Autumn Doughton- I have had the opportunity to interview her- you can read the interview here, or listen to me rambling about how I LOVE her books here.

Interview: A.L. Jackson

Hurray, its my 2nd interview!! A.l. Jackson is a New York Times Bestselling Author and the author to one of my favourite books, Take This Regret (click to see review) and also some other amazing books like Pulled, Come To Me Quietly, etc.

Without further delay, let’s skip right to the interview…

1. Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

Hey everyone, I’m A.L. Jackson, but you can call me Amy J. I write contemporary and new adult romance and absolutely love it! I’ve been writing for about six years now. I’m married to my soul mate (yes, I believe in love at first sight!!) and we have three amazing kids who aren’t so little anymore.

2.Most of your books depict the journey to attain love as a difficult one. What’s your personal take on love??

I got really fortunate and met and married an incredible, wonderful man when I was young. Not to say we never struggle, but our love always comes first. But I think there is a lot of beauty in a love that has to be fought for, which is the reason I think my books tend to slant in the more angsty, emotional direction.

3. Since Take This Regret is one of my all-time favorites, I’m really curious about how the idea for that book came to you…

This is kind of funny, but I remember it really clearly. It was years and years ago, but I was out to dinner with my family, and I literally was struck with this character…Christian Davison. I remember lifting my head and staring at the wall, and the story just rushed me. Christian, Elizabeth, and Lizzie were all there. Of course there were some changes as I wrote and learned the characters more as the story progressed, but it was a very sudden idea that hit me on that one.

4. Which of your own books is your personal favorite and why??

That would be a toss-up between Come to Me Quietly and A Stone in the Sea. I love a broken bad boy…and well, Jared and Sebastian just fit that bill. They’re also both very strong characters who are fighting for what they believe is right, and I love getting into the psyche of a character like that.

5.What books are you currently working on??

I just finished A Stone in the Sea! It was an amazing writing experience…that book flowed from me in a way that none of my other books ever have and I’m completely in love with the end result. I’m taking the month off for editing and release, and then I’ll be starting on the second book, Drowning to Breathe, beginning in March.

6.What’s your favorite quote??

Worrying won’t stop the bad stuff from happening. It just stops you from enjoying the good.

7.What’s your favorite color?

8. Favorite books and songs??

Books: The Law of Moses, Becoming Calder, Finding Eden.

Songs: Open Water ~ blessthefall, The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot ~ Brand New

9. Favorite classic and contemporary authors?

Favorite classic would have to be Margaret Mitchell (Gone with the Wind was the first romance I ever read and I’ve been in love with the genre ever since!) Contemporary authors would be Amy Harmon, Mia Sheridan, and Colleen Hoover.

10. Message to your readers??

Just thank you!! I could never do what I do without all of your support, and it truly means the world to me.

Thank you sooo much Amy J for doing the interview!!!!!

And here’s MY message to Romance genre readers- if you haven’t read an A.L. Jackson, you’re seriously missing out… 😀

❤ always,

Bad Romeo playlist and review

Bad Romeo- Leisa Rayven

When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.

Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they’ll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks.

Before I say anything else, if you don’t want to be tortured then don’t read this book until the second book releases. I’m seriously dying here.. I mean, why would a book be ended like THAT?? but anyways, I really loved this book. The writing style is cool, with alternative flashbacks and present happenings. The moment Romeo is introduced, my reaction – *swoon*. Yes he was frustrating and annoying, but that’s kind of what I love- imperfectly perfect. If angsty romance is your cup of tea, then you’ll love this book.

Oh, P.S- You don’t need to be a Romeo and Juliet fan for liking it, but a completely cynical mind won’t like all the angst.

1. Look at what I’ve done- Chris Cagle

“I saw it in her eyes
When I was sayin’ goodbye
That girl, she ain’t gonna be alright
‘Cause I could tell
She’d be goin’ through a livin’ hell
And I wouldn’t be there by her side

2. In My Veins- Andrew Belle

Oh, you’re in my veins
And I cannot get you out

3. Enchanted- Taylor Swift

                                              There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired lonely place

4. Always Hate Me- James Blunt

And she will always hate me, no matter what I say.
And there is no mistaking, the love is gone.
Yea she will always hate me, she said “you lost me baby”
No matter what I say, the love is gone.

5. Hall of Fame- The Script

Standing in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your name
‘Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world’s gonna know your name
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame

6. Fight For This Love- Cheryl Cole

Anything that’s worth havin’
Sure enough worth fighting for
Quittin’s out of the question
When it gets tough, gotta fight some more, oh

7. Let Me Love You- Ne-yo

Girl let me love you
A heart of numbness gets brought to life
I’ll take you there

8. Love Story- Taylor Swift (Theme song for Bad Romeo)

“Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I’ll be waiting; all that’s left to do is run.
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess,
It’s a love story, baby, just say, ‘Yes.'”
