Grave Of The Fireflies: Movie Review

I’m not a movie buff. In fact, I watch VERY few movies. But recently I had a lot of free time and a friend had suggested Grave of The Firefiles a long time back. And I’m so glad I watched it, while at the same time I feel like killing my friend for recommending it. (You get the feeling, right?)

Grave Of The Fireflies is a 1988 Japanese animated drama film written and directed by Isao Takahata and animated by Studio Ghibli..In the latter part of World War II, Seita and his sister Setsuko, orphaned when their mother is killed in the firebombing of Tokyo, are left to survive on their own in what remains of civilian life in Japan. The unfortunate siblings do their best to survive in the Japanese countryside, battling hunger, prejudice, and pride in their own quiet, personal battle.

When I first read the summary of the movie, I wasn’t sure if I’d like it. But man- I’m totally blown away. The story- I think it is needless to say that I loved it. Setsuko is, without doubt, the cutest kid EVER!!

Well, I’m dying to recommend it to someone. In fact, I’m so desperate to share my feelings that I actually forced my parents to sit and watch the movie today.. -_-

P.S.- Thanks, Mrin-la- but dont blame me if I send you a missile all the way from here.
