The List // Beauty and the Beast Retellings : Readalongs and Reviews (#BATBretellingthoughts)

QOTD: Do you know of any Beauty and The Beast Retellings? Are any of the books I have listed in your TBR?

As promised, here’s the list of Beauty and The Beast retellings that I know of, that I have read or intend to read in the near future.

(Read)

1. Beastly – Alex Flinn: Review coming soon. Also, I intend to watch the movie soon. Because Alex Pettyfer.

2. Lord Of Scoundrels (Scoundrels #3) : Loretta James : Review coming soon. Can be read as a standalone.

3. When Beauty Tamed The Beast (Fairy Tales #2) – Eloisa James : Can be read as a standalone. Review coming soon.

4. A Court Of Thorns And Roses (A Court Of Thorns And Roses #1) – Sarah J. Maas : Who hasn’t read this? I won’t do a normal review, but I might tell you about how this book was a perfect retelling of Beauty and The Beast.

(TBR)

5. Cruel Beauty – Rosamund Hudge : Heard great things. And the cover? Dayum ❀

6. Uprooted – Naomi Novik : Fantasy. And as far I have heard, it has a “whimsical” writing style. Which kinda intimidates me so Idk what to do about this book πŸ˜‚

7. A Rose In Winter – Kathleen E. Woodiwiss : Historical romance I am guessing? I have read Woodiwiss’ novels before. They are entertaining enough but a bit dragging.

8. Beauty – Robin McKinley : Well, now that’s a direct reference to BATB. We’ll see how the story goes πŸ™‚

9. Hunted – Meagan Spooner : This fantasy (?) novel recently came under the spotlight so I am intrigued.

10. Seven Nights In A Rogue’s Bed (Sons of Sin #1) – Anna Campbell : Obviously this is only for readers like me who don’t mind the (more than) occassional trashy romance. Hey, they are delicious okay? No judging.

So let’s go over the rules again:

If you want to join,

1. Review any of these books / Take a picture of it and post it on Instagram if it’s on your TBR

2. Basically let’s just discuss and fangirl and debate.

3. Tag me in the blogpost or the Insta post.

4. If it’s an Insta post, add #BATBretellingthoughts

OR

You can just read the reviews that’ll be coming soon and comment your thoughts and just like the post πŸ˜‚ I don’t ask for much πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Let me know your spoiler free thoughts about any of these books.

Welcome, welcome // Beauty and the Beast Retellings: Readalong and Reviews (#BATBretellingthoughts)

I have always, always loved the story of this bookish and peculiar yet pretty girl who is imprisoned by the “beast”, a brute with a seemingly cold heart and how these creatures you assume are beasts are not really the beastly ones.

So when the live-action movie came out, I obviously watched it.

And fell in love with the story all over again.

I did some research and came up with a list of Beauty and The Beast retellings that I wanted to read over this month, and perhaps even over this year. So this series will have reviews of retellings of Beauty and The Beast, one book per post, or more if I decide to do shorter reviews.

There will be books from multiple genres and subgenres, such as high fantasy, historical romance, urban fantasy, etc.

I’ll be really happy if any of you want to join me in reading these. You can read the ones I have on my list, or find some other books like these. OR you can post reviews and/or photos of retellings you have already read before. All you have to do is either post about it on Instagram with the hashtag #BATBretellingthoughts OR make a blog post about it where you add a link to this page so that more people know about this.

I’ll be posting a list of books I plan to read if any of you are interested in this whole thing. I hope you are!

I have already read some retellings, I’ll put up reviews of them pretty soon. And if you know of any such books, please let me know in the comments below!

50 Day Challenge of Random Things- Day #6

I know I skipped Day #4 and #5, but there’s reason for that.

  1. For Day #4 the topic was:A picture of you doing something weird but funny. Well, I hardly have pictures of myself. Forget about silly pictures.

2. For Day#5 the topic was: A picture of your friends being silly. I didn’t think posting a silly picture of a friend would be very nice.

3. I’m already running late in this. πŸ˜›

So moving on to a more fun topic:

Write a paragraph to somebody – it could be anybody you want, even someone you haven’t met yet.

I thought a lot about this one and decided to write to my first official teacher, Krishna ma’am, who will always remain my favorite teacher forever. ❀

We are talking about the year 2002, and ma’am you obviously don’t even remember me now. But there are so many things that I wasn’t old enough to tell you then, and am not familiar enough to tell you now. Before nursery, I had never been to any other school, and so you were my first teacher ever. I still remember how you taught us a poem about two birds sitting on a wall, I remember how you gave me one of my first books to read (I think it was called “Mitttu: The Parrot”). I even remember that I never used to like having tiffin, and you would walk around the corridors with me till I finished my food. Your smile, your gentle scolding- its all so rare now. Every teacher I have now, well, they are amazing teachers, but they are all so…. impersonal. They come into class, teach, check our papers, give us marks, and leave. The difference between you and them reminds me of one thing only: it sucks to grow up. So 14 years since when you taught me the very basics of life, I wish you all the happiness in your life, all the happiness that you have showered on a thousands little kids like me.

I am so disorganised when I write. X( *facepalm*

50 Day Challenge Of Random Things- Day #3

So I’m posting two of the challenge posts on the same day, but to be honest, yesterday I had typed the post 50 Day Challenge Of Random Things- Day #2 and then somehow I forgot to post it. But yeah, I DID write it yesterday. Moving on..

Today’s challenge:

Write with your elbow.

This is funny and super cool and here we go… XD

wehaqt molre iosa tym, erws tyhahn qwnother day..

πŸ˜› In elbow language, it means What More Is Tomorrow Than Another Day??

XD Uh huh, soooo creative….

50 Day Challenge Of Random Things- Day #2

Today’s topic:

Write whatever it is in your head right now.

So here we go….

Okay, call me a romantic, call me a fool. Call me hard-headed, call me cheesy. But it doesn’t change the fact that as always, he’s the one thing on my mind. His jet-black hair, his strong big hands, his voice- I can picture them as perfectly as I can picture the back of my hand. We couldn’t possibly be more different, me and him. We couldn’t possibly be more impossible. Around him, I’m even more disorganized than I already am. His non-existent perfections lure me.

He confuses me, but somehow I’m at peace with him. Because with him, I never pretend to be something I am not. Don’t get me wrong, its not like he likes girls like me. In fact, I am so out of his league that its not even funny. But somehow, even though I’ve wanted to, I never have managed to be different around him. I’m just me.

Its not easy to like, or be infatuated to (or whatever philosophical word I should use for this feeling) a person who nobody likes. They all say he is worthless, he’s stupid, he’s completely NOT my type. But I just CAN’T explain why I feel whatever I feel for him. Yes, he’s not exactly highly intellectual, he’s a show-off, he has countless flaws. But at the end of the day, he makes me happy. Like truly, genuinely happy. With his completely pointless and stupid jokes he brightens up my day. He sometimes chooses to talk to me even when I’m in the midst of a crowd, and although I know he does that because he’s just that kind of a guy…..it makes smile.

So in a year probably I’ll forget all about him. Maybe years later I’ll see my old history book where he wrote the names of his favorite songs, and think, oh, yes, him. But I’m pretty sure the memory of him will make me smile even then. That’s so much better than a person who makes you cry, isn’t it?

Uuuhhh, sorry if that does not make sense. Random thoughts are hard to pin down. XD

50 Day Challenge Of Random Things- Day #1

Today’s topic is:

A picture of something you hate

I hate, HATE heights. Why people even bother taking pictures of them, I don’t know. They spook me out. I can’t find a single thing I hate more than heights.

The above picture is freaking me out enough. *sigh*

That’s all for today! See ya! πŸ˜€
