Reading List:

Summer mainly feels like YA contemporary novels, but I’ve tried to incorporate some other books as well.

  1. Summer series by Jenny Han – I am not a fan of this series personally, but I don’t think you can exclude this one from a “summer reads list”.
  2. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater – Henrietta always feels like summer.
  3. We Were Liars by E. Lockhart – Not summer-y in a cheerful sort of way, but more like in a dark way.
  4. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – Self explanatory
  5. Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare – Of all of Shakespeare’s plays, this one is particularly summer-y.
  6. Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah – I remember reading this one summer years ago.
  7. The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson – I call these books “quality YA”. It had one of my favourite books of all time. And basically all of Matson’s books are very summer-y.
  8. To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee – Essentially gives off summer vibes.
  9. I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson – Have you seen the name of this book??
  10. Summer Days and Summer Nights edited by Stephanie Perkins – I haven’t read this one, but it is necessarily a collection of twelve short stories in summer.

Hope you guys are having a lovely summer! XO

“for angels to fly” // winter reading list + playlist

Winter. Is. Here. Christmas shopping has begun, the lights have been hung up, it has begun to snow in some places, and in my land of very boring weather, it’s actually slightly cold *impressed face*. I hope you have a cup of hot, steaming coffee or chocolate beside you, ’cause here’s a list of books and songs for you to check out this season while chilling out during the holidays.

READING LIST (basically a list of books that are sure to put you in a winter-y mood if IG wasn’t enough):

(These books are all of different genres; I hope you’ll find at least some you’ll like. Click on the book names to go to their respective Goodreads pages)

1. Comfort and Joy – Kristin Hannah

Very Christmas-y, very sweet. Mostly classified as romance and women’s fiction, Comfort and Joy is a cozy tale about relationships with a hint of magic.

2. The Grisha Trilogy – Leigh Bardugo

A series belonging to the genres of fantasy and romance, Bardugo’s books are a delight to read. The Grishaverse is cold and tumultuous, the central nation Ravka inspired by Russia. Although it is classified as YA, I believe it’s equally appealing to many older readers as well.

3. Landline – Rainbow Rowell

A super cute book based around Christmas, Landline has a rather mixed variety of characters, who are not always likeable, but very real all the same. A must-read for fans of Kristin Hannah, John Green, and Cecelia Ahern.

4. The Gift – Cecelia Ahern

Another book based around Christmas, The Gift is a typical Ahern novel – magical and filled with twists and turns. If you want a book that will truly make you introspect as well as put you in a mood for Christmas, this is perfect.

5. No Ordinary Star trilogy – M.C. Frank

Perfect for fans of Ray Bradbury and/or dystopian novels, M.C. Frank’s trilogy No Ordinary Star is the must-read for this winter. The connection to winter and/or Christmas is something you need to find out from the book ๐Ÿ˜‰ Also, the third and final installment just came out yay! ๐Ÿ˜€ Here’s my review of the first book of the series (I have reviewed all three books on this blog if you want to check them out). Plus, these books have the most gorgeous covers ever.

6. The Gift of the Magi – O. Henry

This is actually a short story, for all you busy people. You have no excuse for getting out of this one. I promise you won’t regret reading it.

7. Hercule Poirot’s Christmas – Agatha Christie

Where are all my fellow Christie fans? This one is my favourite Christmas-y murder story, not to mention one of my top favourite Poirot mysteries.

8. Devil In Winter – Lisa Kleypas

This book is not for everyone. However, if you like an occasional historical romance as a guilty pleasure, this book is one of my favorites. The hero is one of my all-time favourite anti-heroes, and the story is just so sweet :”) You can read it as a standalone, but I’d recommend reading the entire Wallflowers series for full effect.

9. Wuthering Heights – Emily Bronte

If you haven’t read this book, winter is a good time to wrap yourself up in a blanket and speed through it. And if you have read it, this is the perfect season for a re-read, is it not?

10. Harry Potter series – J.K. Rowling

Yes, yes, most of you Potterheads have probably started reading this again already. After all, what better time to visit Hogwarts than winter? :”) A winter reading list is incomplete without some HP, it seems.

PLAYLIST (songs to remind you of winter):

  1. Winter Things – Ariana Grande

“like pieces into place”// fall reading list + playlist

21715002631_5a8b4cb481_bWith technically only one more month left of it, autumn is almost over here in the northern hemisphere. Where I live, it won’t make much of a difference. The sun and the rain will fight as usual, and only a slight chill will settle in over the next few months. However, the internet has finally pulled me into its fall-worshipping madness, and truly, I’m going to miss everyone talking about back-to-school, pumpkin spice lattes, Halloween, and seeing photos of brown and orange leaves on people’s Instagram feeds. So here’s a list of books and songs that I always associate with fall, to celebrate the season that I mostly enjoy vicariously.

Fall Reads:

1. The Raven Cycle (Maggie Stiefvater)

2. Dracula (Bram Stoker)

3. A Court of Thorns and Roses (Sarah J. Maas)

4. Wuthering Heights (Emily Bronte)

5. The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Michelle Hodkin)

6. Macbeth (William Shakespeare)

7.Hallowe’en Party (Agatha Christie)

8. Lord of the Rings trilogy (J.R.R Tolkien)

Autumn Book Tag

I saw this tag in The Worn Bookmark and decided that I haven’t done one in a long time! ๐Ÿ˜€ And plus this one seems super-short and I’m super-lazy, so you can do the math ๐Ÿ˜›

What is your favorite thing about Autumn?

We don’t really have the typical “autumn” here in India. WE have really unpredictable during this time period, and I love that as well as hate it. ^_^

What book reminds you of your school days?

I read this book AGES ago as a kid, and it isn’t even really good, but it very school-ish.

Errr, lots of memories. I’m sure my classmates will understand. ๐Ÿ˜‰

What book cover reminds you of Autumn?

Obviously, this one will be a very common choice.

What is your favorite horror or Halloween film?

Ummm, I hate horror movies. I haven’t watched ONE. Sorry. The scariest ENGLISH horror movie I watched was The Monster House (they gave it on Cartoon Network). Its a very cute movie. ๐Ÿ˜›

Can I mention Hindi movies? Then its:

Uggh, creepy..

What Fall book release are you most looking forward to?

๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ CoHo!!!!

What Autumn movie release are you most anticipating?

None. I’m not a movie person. And waiiiiit a second, I thought this was a BOOK tag!

What are three books you plan to read this Autumn?

Any three?

ย ย ย ย ย ย  9571478798980011867860

I’m in a historical romance genre reading spree. ๐Ÿ˜›

So that’s it !!!! If you want to do the tag, just comment below! ๐Ÿ˜€

R.I.P It Or SHIP It Tag

I don’t remember who (sorry!!), but someone had tagged me to do this tag, and obviously, this is one of the coolest tags I’ve ever done. The rules are simple:

1. Write downย the names of characters from different books on scraps of paper. You can do as many as you like, but I did 20 (10 girls and 10 boys)

2. Put them in a container of your choosing.

3. Pull out two names at the time to form your own couples.

4. Decision time! Do you ship them or do you want their relationship to die a peaceful/painful death? Tell the world!

Note: I love all the original pairings, so lets forget them for a while, and focus on the characters as single individuals. ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Nastya (Sea Of Tranquility) ๐Ÿ’— Four (Divergent)

I’m going to SHIP them, because Nastya’s troubled past, volatile temper and strong personality will cause an explosive, dramatic but passionate relationship with Four.

2. Hermione (Harry Potter series) ๐Ÿ’— Cedric Diggory (Harry Potter)

๐Ÿ˜€ I love them both, so yeah, I’ll ship this!!!! Strange that both are actually from the same world, so it can only be called the work of Fate. ๐Ÿ˜€ Imagine, Hermione in all her Hermione-y awesomeness and Cedric Diggory being all cute and understanding and all… *sigh* ๐Ÿ˜›

3. Augustus (TFIOS) ๐Ÿ’”ย  Layken (Slammed)

They just won’t work. Somehow. I cannot imagine them together. I say, R.I.P it !!!!

4. Etienne (Anna And The French Kiss)ย ๐Ÿ’” Tris (Divergent)

LOL.. ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ R.I.P It!!! This can’t happen!! Can you imagine?? ๐Ÿ˜€

5. Day (Legend series) ๐Ÿ’— Annabeth (Percy Jackson series)

Match made in heaven!! They’d be so cute together! She’s intellectually badass and he’s just crazily cute and amazing, not to mention badass too.. Ship it!!

6. Christian Grey (50 Shades)ย ๐Ÿ’” Hazel (TFIOS)

Uh, no. Just NO!! R.I.P it!!!!! Heh, Hazel would take none of the initial crap from Grey.

7. Daemon (Lux series)ย ๐Ÿ’” Anastasia Steele (50 shades)

I can’t fathom these two together. Daemon is one of my all-time favorite characters, and Anastasia is….not.

8. Sebastian (The Mortal Instruments series) ๐Ÿ’— Anna (Anna And The French Kiss)

What if she manages to change him? You never know. So being the ultra-optimistic person that I am, and because I always felt that Sebastian (or Jonathan) should be given a chance of redemption, I’ll ship it!

9. Finn (Trylle Trilogy) ๐Ÿ’— June (Legend series)

Ship it!! They’d have a highly intellectual and serious relationship, and they’d make a beautiful couple.

10. Patch (Hush, Hush series) ๐Ÿ’” Katniss (The Hunger Games)

As much as I love Patch, he’s too alpha and casual for Katniss. She’d just kick him out of her life at first meeting. R.I.P it!!!

This was sooooo fun!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ If you want to do this tag just comment below, and I’ll tag you. ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S.: I sort of stole the cute heart images from AlexTheShadowGirl .. ๐Ÿ˜›

Totally Didnโ€™t Book Tag

Thank you Find Me At The Library for tagging me here!! ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Totallyย didnโ€™t need to have a sequel/sequels

This book could have been ended in one. I didn’t even like the next books so much. But the concept BLEW my mind.

2. Totally didnโ€™t need to have more than one point of view!

I’m sorry, I ADORE dual povs.. They change the entire dynamics!

3. Totally didnโ€™t need to change cover art through the middle of a series!

I’ve never come across a massacre like that! Sorry for another non-answer!

4. Totally didnโ€™t need a love triangle!

As if Edward and Bella’s drama weren’t enough, she shows us Jacob and then snatches him away. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

I can’t resist saying something negative from this book.. ๐Ÿ˜›

Why was Gale even there????

5. Totally didnโ€™t need this book to be included in this series!

Err.. I’m aware that the series would be incomplete without this book, but c’mon!!!! I DID NOT like it.

6. Totally didnโ€™t need a cliffhanger!

The next book wasn’t worth finishing. I don’t know, I might try again someday. But my expectations were soaring very very high.

7. Totally didnโ€™t need to have just one point of view!

I wanted Christian’s POV. What could be so wrong with his head????? I’m glad to have Grey now, but I wish it was all in the same book. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

8. Totally didnโ€™t need that much hype!

SURPRISE!!!!!! Dude, what’s so special about a sparkly vampire?????

9. Totally didnโ€™t need a relative book reference! (e.g. Hunger Games fan would love Divergent.)

I agree with Find Me At The Library. Nothing wrong with references.

10. Totally didnโ€™t deserve my time!

I COULD have named any bad book, but this book.. its just special. *sarcastic smile*

Anything by Colleen Hoover… Ugghh, how can I choose one??? But if I HAVE to..

Depends on what they might be interested in, but I’d always say Harry Potter. I tried that on my sister and I think its working. ๐Ÿ˜›

Libra โ€“ A sci-fi, fantasy or dystopian novel with the perfect balance of romance and action.
