Don’t Make Me Beautiful : Review and playlist

Don’t Make Me Beautiful- Elle Casey

“No one knew a woman lived there or that she even existed. A monster, living in darkness…

At twenty-two, Nicole doesn’t even look human anymore. The beast made sure of that. So she hides. A monster, consigned to a life of fear and solitude. This is all she deserves, she is quite sure of that.

And then one day out of the blue, the autographed baseball caught by Brian Jensen at the latest Marlins game enters her prison and manages to turn her world completely upside down.

Temptation comes in the form of pity at first, and then perhaps something more. Does she dare to believe the things she’s told, that this is not the life she was meant to live? That being a monster is not her forever-fate? And will she be willing to risk everything, to reach out and accept the helping hands around her and share her deepest, darkest secrets? She knows only too well that hands can hurt. Finding out whether they can also heal is a risky proposition, especially when the beast is still out there. Looking for her.”

I don’t have much to say about this book except that it is extremely beautiful and inspiring. It was even better than the blurb description- which is kind of bland and cliche compared to the amazing storyline. Oh, and apparently its based on true events. *shudder*

1. Skyscraper- Demi Lavato (Describing Nicole’s brave heart)

“Do you have to make me feel like
There’s nothing left of me?”

2. Watching you- Rodney Atkins (Brian and Liam)

“Yeah we’re just alike, hey ain’t we dad
I wanna do everything you do
So I’ve been watching you”

3. Dandelion- Kacey Musgraves

“Sent you dancing on the breeze
And like a stupid little girl
I spent my wishes on a weed
Thinking it could change my world”

4. Only Hope- Mandy Moore

“So I lay my head back down
And I lift my hands
and pray to be only Yours
I pray to be only Yours
I know now you’re my only hope”

5, Innocent- Taylor Swift

“It’s alright, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not where you’ve been.
You’re still an innocent,
You’re still an innocent.”

6. Fix You- Coldplay

“Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you”

7. Begin Again- Taylor Swift

“And you throw your head back laughing like a little kid
I think it’s strange that you think I’m funny ’cause he never did
I’ve been spending the last eight months
Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end
But on a Wednesday in a cafe I watched it begin again”

8. I feel pretty/unpretty – Glee Cast (Nicole’s final feelings for her ex.. sorry, I keep forgetting his name)

“I wish I could tie you up in my shoes
Make you feel unpretty too
I was told I was beautiful
But what does that mean to you
Look into the mirror who’s inside there
The one with the long hair
Same old me again today”

🙂 Even if you haven’t read the book, you can listen to the songs- they are pretty awesome (according to me)

Take This Regret review, playlist and dream cast

Take This Regret- A.L. Jackson

“She was mine, had always been, and I’d always been hers. Despite what I’d done, the wounds I’d inflicted, she had always been mine…. our hearts had been tied, our bond one that neither of us could ever escape.”

There are some mistakes we make that we will regret for the rest of our lives. For Christian Davison, it was the day he betrayed Elizabeth Ayers. For five years, Christian has regretted the day he walked away from his family and will do anything to win them back. Can Elizabeth forgive someone who has committed the unforgiveable? Or are there some wounds that go so deep they can never heal?

“Once again, I found myself on the edge looking down, wondering when I’d get so close that I’d fall. Or maybe I’d just jump.”

The blurb does NOT do the book justice. But since I don’t want to give anything away, I guess this is all you will get. This book…its sooo beautiful. The idea is fresh, the characters are amazing. Little Lizzie is going to tug at your heartstrings with all her cute dialogues and sympathetic situation. Elizabeth is a strong protagonist, although she IS a bit frustrating at times. And Christian- *sigh* Its so easy to understand why Elizabeth fell for him inspite of his flaws. Not your typical ‘perfect’ hero. In fact, I hated him in the first chapter, and then hated myself for falling for his charms the next chapter onwards. And of course, the alternating POV just makes it better. Its safe to say that this book is, and will be, one of my all-time favorites.

(I’m still making the playlist for the sequel, If Forever Comes, and will be posting it soon)

1. Wasting All These Tears On You- Cassadee Pope (flashback to 5 years back)

And you left me
Standing on a corner crying,
Feeling like a fool for trying

2. The Lonely- Christina Perri (Elizabeth’s POV)

Dancing slowly in an empty room,
Can the lonely take the place of you?

3. Lately- The Helio Sequence (Christian’s POV)

Lately, I don’t think of you at all
Or wonder what you’re up to, or how you’re getting on
I never think of calling you, or how things could have been
Or wonder where you sleep at night, or whose arms you wake in

4. The Reason- Hoobastank (Christian repents for his mistakes)

I’m not a perfect person
There’s many things I wish I didn’t do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you

5. Never Grow Up- Taylor Swift (Elizabeth to Lizzie)

Don’t you ever grow up, it could stay this simple
I won’t let nobody hurt you, won’t let no one break your heart
And no one will desert you
Just try to never grow up, never grow up

6. Need You Now- Taylor Swift (As the story progresses….)

Said I wouldn’t call but I’ve lost all control and I need you now.

7. Far Away- Nickelback (Elizabeth’s birthday)

I have loved you all along
And I miss you
Been far away for far too long

8. The Scientist- Coldplay (When Elizabeth tries to protect herself from being hurt again)

Nobody said it was easy
It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard

9. A Thousand Years- Christina Perri (The ending)

How can I love when I’m afraid
To fall
But watching you stand alone
All of my doubt
Suddenly goes away somehow

Hope you liked it!!!

Bad Romeo playlist and review

Bad Romeo- Leisa Rayven

When Cassie Taylor met Ethan Holt at acting school, sparks flew. She was the good girl actress. He was the bad boy about campus. But one fated casting choice for Romeo and Juliet changed it all. Like the characters they were playing, Cassie and Ethan’s romance seemed destined. Until he broke her heart and betrayed her trust. Now the A-list heartthrob is back in her life and turning her world around. One touch at a time.

Cast as romantic leads once again, they’re forced to confront raw memories of the heartbreaking lows and pulse-pounding highs of their secret college affair. But they’ll also discover that people who rub each other the wrong way often make the best sparks.

Before I say anything else, if you don’t want to be tortured then don’t read this book until the second book releases. I’m seriously dying here.. I mean, why would a book be ended like THAT?? but anyways, I really loved this book. The writing style is cool, with alternative flashbacks and present happenings. The moment Romeo is introduced, my reaction – *swoon*. Yes he was frustrating and annoying, but that’s kind of what I love- imperfectly perfect. If angsty romance is your cup of tea, then you’ll love this book.

Oh, P.S- You don’t need to be a Romeo and Juliet fan for liking it, but a completely cynical mind won’t like all the angst.

1. Look at what I’ve done- Chris Cagle

“I saw it in her eyes
When I was sayin’ goodbye
That girl, she ain’t gonna be alright
‘Cause I could tell
She’d be goin’ through a livin’ hell
And I wouldn’t be there by her side

2. In My Veins- Andrew Belle

Oh, you’re in my veins
And I cannot get you out

3. Enchanted- Taylor Swift

                                              There I was again tonight
Forcing laughter, faking smiles
Same old tired lonely place

4. Always Hate Me- James Blunt

And she will always hate me, no matter what I say.
And there is no mistaking, the love is gone.
Yea she will always hate me, she said “you lost me baby”
No matter what I say, the love is gone.

5. Hall of Fame- The Script

Standing in the hall of fame
And the world’s gonna know your name
‘Cause you burn with the brightest flame
And the world’s gonna know your name
And you’ll be on the walls of the hall of fame

6. Fight For This Love- Cheryl Cole

Anything that’s worth havin’
Sure enough worth fighting for
Quittin’s out of the question
When it gets tough, gotta fight some more, oh

7. Let Me Love You- Ne-yo

Girl let me love you
A heart of numbness gets brought to life
I’ll take you there

8. Love Story- Taylor Swift (Theme song for Bad Romeo)

“Romeo, take me somewhere we can be alone.
I’ll be waiting; all that’s left to do is run.
You’ll be the prince and I’ll be the princess,
It’s a love story, baby, just say, ‘Yes.'”

Feedbacks please!!

This Sky review and playlist

This Sky- Autumn Doughton

Gemma Sayers has spent the last six days rotting in a hotel room, wallowing in a noxious combination of gin, junk food and self-pity. She’s no stranger to disappointment but nothing could have prepared her for the chaos that unfolded when her celebrity boyfriend publicly humiliated her. Now the fairytale is officially over and Gemma is determined to put the past behind her and strike out to find a new dream. Just a few teeny-tiny details to work out: she’s currently broke, homeless and unemployed.

Landon Young has his own worries. Surfer by day and bartender by night, he doesn’t have the interest or the time to be anyone’s happily-ever-after. Weighed down by the memory of what happened two years ago, Landon can barely keep his head above water.

This Sky is the thoughtful and often funny story about broken trust, an unexpected love and the hopes we keep sewn in the linings of our pockets.

Few things I love about Autumn Doughton:

* Her name. So awesome!

* Her writing style. Its like poetry rains down every night on the pages where she writes down her stories.

* Her song references. Whether she is comparing life to a Katy Perry song or bitching about Justin Bieber- the references are always cool and relevant.

I think by now it is pretty obvious that I’m a really big fan of Autumn’s. Thank you Autumn for teaching me that awkward conversations are not always hopeless. Thank you for teaching me that ANYTHING can be compared to absolutely everything, as long as you let your imagination run wild. Salute to your beautiful imagination, for example, the part where you compare the sunlight streaming through a car window to the light coming “in a kaleidoscope of burning whites, oranges and yellows.” Yes friends, this is exactly why I love her books. I knew poetry can be prose, but I learnt today that prose can be poetry too.

Autumn Doughton, I want to be you when I grow up. ❤  😛

1. Demons- Imagine Dragons (Landon’s POV)

2. I knew you were trouble- Taylor Swift (Gemma to Ren)

3. Bartender- Lady Antebellum (Maybe not perfect, but Gemma DID want to forget Ren by getting a rebound. Plus, the fact that Landon was the bartender kind of helps)

4. Enchanted- Taylor Swift (Every meet cute needs this song)

5. Kiss me- Ed sheeran (Pretty obvious)

6. Secrets- One republic (When Landon reveals his secrets)

7. Clarity- Zedd ft. foxes (When Gemma realises that she loves Landon)

8. Crazier- Taylor Swift (It might seem like a Taylor Swift album threw up in this playlist, but this song gives the perfect fuzzy feeling for the ending)

People who like the kind of books I read and people who like poetry will probably love this book.

Thanks For The Memories review and playlist

Thanks For The Memories – Cecilia Ahern

How is it possible to know someone you’ve never met?

Joyce Conway remembers things she shouldn’t. She knows about tiny cobbled streets in Paris, which she has never visited. And every night she dreams about an unknown little girl with blonde hair.

Justin Hitchcock is divorced, lonely and restless. He arrives in Dublin to give a lecture on art and is persuaded to donate blood. It’s the first thing to come straight from his heart in a long time.

When Joyce leaves hospital after a terrible accident, with her life and her marriage in pieces, she moves back with her elderly father. All the while, a strong sense of deja vu is overwhelming her and she can’t figure out why…

I got this book as a gift on my birthday as I had been wanting to read it for ages. And to put in simply- I LOVED IT…I don’t know how Cecilia Ahern manages to make an idea so unrealistic into something that your heart will yearn to believe.. On the cover of the copy I bought, it says that Irish Times has commented- “Cecilia Ahern is queen of modern fairytale”… I totally agree…

I don’t know whether to recommend this to anyone or not.. Because these books are kind of controversial in the sense that not EVERYONE like them…But if you are ready to try out something refreshing, I’d suggest- read this book.

This one was quite difficult as it isn’t strictly a love story..

1. Angel- Sarah McLachlan (When Joyce loses her baby)

2. Distance- Christina Perri (Joyce and Connor’s marriage in pieces)

“I wish we would just give up

Cause the best part is falling,

Call it anything but love”

3. Butterfly Fly Away- Miley Cyrus (From Bea to Justin) (And don’t judge me for putting a Miley Cyrus song- this is her only good one)

4. Fix You- Coldplay ( ❤ )

5. Where Are You- Natalie ft. Justin Roman (When Justin and Joyce are searching for each other)

6. One Great Mystery- Lady Antebellum (The Ending)

Hope you like it..:-)
