When Melanie Cahill turned her back on Luke Harrison seven years ago, she cut ties with him completely. Not once has she checked on what happened to him. Nor does she care. Then her incarcerated brother asks her for an unthinkable favor that puts Melanie directly back in Luke’s path. She needs uncomplicated. She needs easy. Luke has never been either.
Luke hasn’t forgotten about Melanie. He built himself a flawless reputation in the business of selling gemstones. There’s room for few imperfections in his life, including Melanie. He sees through her the second she walks through his door. She wants something from him. If only the attraction didn’t get in the way. If only he could put aside his selfish agenda. Luke puts her in an impossible situation…one that promises their past won’t stay buried.

Inclusions is not your typical romantic suspense story with alpha heroes and damsels in distress. Of course there is an alpha hero, and also a distressed heroine, but that’s not where it ends.
The beginning is probably the best part about this book. I started the first page, and I just had to read the rest of the book then and there. Luke and Melanie meeting just amplified the effect.
“I see you still begin your sentences with lies.”
Unlike most romance stories (and trust me because I have read more than enough of them), there is a lot to learn from Inclusions. The whole story revolves around gem-hunting, about which I knew nothing about before reading this book. I also learnt quite a few things about speech therapy for kids.
And that reminds me of one of my favorite things about this book. The addition of Vivian. I am not going to give spoilers by revealing anything about Vivian, but lets just say that everybody’s attitude towards her told me so much about their characters.
My only disappointment was Luke, there were so many parts where I really did not like him. But I guess it was necessary for the character development.
“Once I see the clarity, I know if I want it in my future.”
Summing it up, if you want a short read filled with romance and supense that also teaches you about diamonds, this is your book.
Note: This book has no cliffhanger, but I still suggest you read the next book in the series, because the story doesn’t really end here.
